Accessibility tips

This website is designed to high standards of accessibility so that all site visitors can easily access its content and use its features.

Website Specifications

This site uses 256 colours. Your system should be configured to display at least 256 colours in 1024 x 768 resolution or higher. We recommend that your Internet browser should be capable of displaying tables, handling electronic forms, displaying graphic images, and support all HTML extensions.

Accessibility features

You can change the settings in your Web browser. Just follow the instructions below based on the browser you are using (or see your browser's ‘help’ for details).

  • Website text size 
    •   Internet Explorer (PC) 
      • select the View menu at the top of the screen 
      • scroll down and select the preferred Text size option.
    • Firefox (PC and Mac)
      • Select "View" in the menu bar.
      • Select “Zoom”
      • Select "Zoom in" to increase page size and “Zoom out” to decrease page size.
      • Optionally, check “Zoom text only” option to only modify the size of the text.
    • Opera (PC)
      • Select the "Zoom" drop-down menu from the right-hand side of the View bar.
      • From the “Zoom” menu, select the percentage size you would like to view the Web site.
    • Chrome (PC and Mac)
      • Click the “Customise and control Google Chrome” button (the wrench icon) on the top-right side of the browser toolbar. Mac users: If you don't see the button, go to the menu bar at the top of your screen and click View.
      • Find the "Zoom" section in the menu and choose one of the following options:
        • Click + to make everything on the page larger. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl and + (Windows and Linux) and ⌘ and + (Mac).
        • Click - to make everything smaller. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl and - (Windows and Linux) and ⌘ and - (Mac).
    • Safari (PC and Mac)
      • Using the Mouse to Resize Text:
        • Select the Safari View menu to see the various options for adjusting text size.
        • Make Text Size Bigger. This option will increase the web page text size in small increments each time you select it.
        • Make Text Smaller. This option decreases website text size in small increments each time you select it.
        • Make Text Normal Size. This is a new option in Safari 3.0 and later. It allows will return the page to a website's original default text size.
      • Change Text Size From the Keyboard:
        • Make your selection from the Safari Browser's View menu.
        • Command + + To increase text size using your keyboard, simultaneously press and hold the command key and the plus (+) key.
        • Command + - To decrease text size, simultaneously press and hold the command key and the minus (-) key.
        • Command + 0 To return to a page's default text size, simultaneously press and hold the command key and the 0 (zero) key.
  • Changing colour and fonts
    PC users can override website colour and font page styles by modifying browser settings:
    • With Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, select Internet Options. Within Internet Options, select the General tab and click Accessibility. This gives a page of menu options from which you can tick a box to ignore the predefined page style. Return to the Internet Options menu, and select your own colours and fonts.
    • Macintosh users can override website colour and font page styles by modifying browser setting. With Internet Explorer, from the top menu bar, select Preferences. Within the Web Browser section, select Web content and uncheck the Show style sheets tick box. Select Language/fonts and choose the preferred text size from the font options.


Keyboard navigation

Keyboard navigation is an alternative to the mouse for browsing websites. This increases accessibility for visitors who have difficulty using a mouse or pointer tool.

  • Use the arrow keys to scroll up or down pages.
  • Use the tab key to move between links (‘skip links’), and press return or enter to select one.
  • Use the backspace key to go back to the previous page.


The method for using access keys depends on the type of computer you have and the web browser software you use. In general the following combination of keys is used:

  • On a PC using Internet Explorer - 'Alt' + , then 'Enter'
  • On a PC using Firefox - 'Alt' + 
  • On an Apple computer - 'Control' +
Accessibility features
